Anupam Kher was born on March 7, 1955 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. He is an actor and producer, known for Silver Linings Playbook (2012), A Wednesday (2008) and The Big Sick (2017).

Was the Chair of Central Board of Film Certification in India.
Elder brother of Raju Kher.
Has played the father to Parminder Nagra twice. First in Bend It Like Beckham (2002) and again in ER (1994).
Has one son, Sikander Kher, who is also an actor.
After attending the National School of Drama, he started his career in theater.
In 1994 launched his own entertainment company.
Awarded the "Special National Jury Award" and the "Actor of the Decade Award" (Millennium Honours) among others, but he also holds the record as the only actor in the industry to have won eight consecutive Filmfare awards.

Anupam Kher too struggled a lot and sometimes did not have money for even food. He would use his light complexion, baldness and ability to imitate and mimic people, specially foreigners. He would go to eating joints, speak like a foreigner, taste things to full belly and leave. And he says that people really mistook him for some foreigner and never asked for money.
Inlaws are actor Thakhar Singh Sandhu and Diljit Thakhar Sandhu. They appeared in the film Mummyji.
